Liquid silicone rubber (LSR)

 

 

ELASTOSIL® LR – LSR liquid silicone are two-component grades of silicone rubber that can be injection molded on fully automated machines, without the need for additional processing. They are usually platinum cured and vulcanize under heat and pressure. As a rule, component A contains a platinum catalyst, while component B contains a cross-linking agent. They are ideal for high-volume production, thus helping to reduce the cost of unit production.

For automotive applications, we offer a dedicated series of fluorinated liquid silicone rubbers ELASTOSIL® FLR, which are characterized by particularly high resistance to invasive media, such as gasoline, engine and transmission oils. They are mainly used in the production of automotive and aerospace seals.

The A and B components are delivered in 20 kg or 200 kg containers:

Our recommendation:

 

Liquid silicone rubber (LSR) products that are intended for specialized applications such as baby care, food contact and medical applications normally require additional post-curing.

 

ELASTOSIL ® LR 5040 is a newly developed series of fast-curing LSR silicone that has excellent properties after curing – even without additional post-curing. Since no additional heat treatment is required, production saves time and energy, which making it more profitable.

ELASTOSIL® LR 5040 has excellent properties, even without additional heating. Thanks to the innovative formula, it is characterized by:

 

• Very low volatile substances content
• Meets BfR, FDA, EN 1400 and EN 14350 requirements
• Meets USP <88> Class VI and key ISO 10993 tests
• Has excellent tear resistance
• Has a hardness tolerance of ± 3 Shore A

 

The ELASTOSIL® LR 5040 product series is currently available in hardness levels from 30 to 70 Shore A, hardnesses are achieved even without additional heating, with a particularly tight tolerance of ± 3 Shore A points. In addition, cured silicone products show a tear resistance of up to 50N / mm (measured according to the ASTM D 624 B standard). This is especially important in the production of baby care items, such as teats and teats.
